Services

Six lines of work for organisations that cannot afford to get technology wrong. Each is a defined engagement with a defined scope.

Everything below is sold as its own engagement. You do not need to buy all of it, and we will tell you when you do not need a piece of it. Most relationships start with one line of work and grow only when there is a reason.

01

Cybersecurity Consulting

Cybersecurity is a business risk that happens to be technical. That distinction matters, because it decides who is in the room when the decisions get made. We work with owners and executives directly, and we report in terms of what is exposed, what it would cost you, and what it takes to close it. Not in terms of product names.

The work starts with an honest reading of your current environment. What is actually deployed, how it is configured, what is being monitored and by whom, and what happens on the day something gets through. Most organisations we meet have bought reasonable tools. The gap is almost never the shopping list. It is configuration, monitoring, testing and the assumption that installation equals protection.

From there we give you a prioritised picture. Some findings are urgent and cheap. Some are expensive and can wait a year. Some are neither, and we will tell you that too. The point is that you get to make a funding decision with real information rather than being told everything is critical.

We also handle ransomware attack restoration when it is needed. That is difficult, unglamorous work, and we would much rather be involved before it happens. If you are in the middle of an incident right now, call us on 317-664-7769 and we will talk you through containment before anything else.

  • Current state assessment of your environment
  • Prioritised remediation plan with real costs
  • Proactive staff training and reporting
  • Network security and data backup
  • Ransomware attack restoration
  • Board level reporting you can actually present

Network Design, Implementation and Management

The network is the thing everyone forgets about until the day it stops. Ours is a design, build and run service: we plan it around how your business actually operates, put it in, and then look after it so you are not the one noticing problems first.

Design starts with questions that are not about hardware. Where do your people work, and on what. What has to keep running if the building loses power or the internet drops. What are you planning to do in three years that the current setup cannot carry. A network built from those answers tends to cost less over its life than one built from a specification sheet.

Day to day management means proactive monitoring, patching, performance analysis and a helpdesk staffed by people in Indiana who know your environment. When you call, you reach someone who has seen your network before. That is a deliberate choice and it is why our helpdesk sits in the same building as our engineers.

We also do network performance analysis as standalone work, which is often the right first step when the complaint is that things are slow but nobody can say precisely when or where.

  • Network design and implementation
  • Proactive monitoring and patching
  • Network performance analysis
  • Local helpdesk and remote support
  • Data backup and recovery
  • IT expense versus ROI analysis

Project Based Consulting

Some work has a start and a finish. A move, a migration, a refresh, an acquisition to integrate, a system to retire. Project work is scoped, quoted and delivered as a defined engagement, and you do not need an ongoing agreement with us to buy it.

What we bring is sequencing. Most technology projects fail on the order of operations rather than the technology, and the expensive mistakes are usually made in week one when someone underestimates a dependency. We plan backwards from the date things have to work, identify what has to be true before each step, and tell you early where the risk sits.

You get a named point of contact, a schedule with real dates, and a clear statement of what is in scope and what is not. If something changes mid project, you hear it from us before it becomes a surprise on an invoice.

Typical projects include office relocations and buildouts, server and infrastructure refreshes, cloud migrations, integrating an acquired company's systems, and phone system replacements.

  • Office moves, buildouts and relocations
  • Server and infrastructure refresh
  • Cloud and email migrations
  • Acquisition and merger integration
  • Structured cabling and buildout coordination
  • Defined scope, defined date, defined price

Best Practices Consulting

This is the outside read. We look at how technology is run in your organisation and measure it against what works in comparable firms, then tell you plainly where you are ahead and where you are behind.

It is deliberately not a sales exercise. Sometimes the finding is that your internal team is doing a good job with too little budget, and the recommendation is to fund them properly rather than to replace them. We have made that recommendation more than once, and we would rather be the firm that says it.

The areas we look at are documentation, change control, backup and recovery testing, vendor management, licensing, lifecycle planning and the concentration of knowledge in individual people. That last one is the risk most organisations carry without realising it, because it does not show up on any report until the person leaves.

The output is a written assessment you can act on, with each finding rated by risk and by effort so that the cheap wins are obvious.

  • Documentation and change control review
  • Backup and recovery testing
  • Vendor and licensing review
  • Technology lifecycle planning
  • Key person risk assessment
  • Written findings rated by risk and effort

Phone Systems and UCaaS

Voice has quietly become software, which is good news for anyone still maintaining a phone system in a closet. Unified communications puts calling, messaging and conferencing on one platform that works the same whether your people are at a desk, at home or on a job site.

We design, implement and support these systems, and we handle the part nobody enjoys, which is porting your existing numbers without dropping calls during the switch. That is a scheduling and coordination problem more than a technical one, and it is where most phone migrations go wrong.

The business case is usually straightforward. You stop paying to maintain ageing hardware, you stop paying for lines you no longer use, and your people can work from anywhere without forwarding rules that nobody understands. We will build that comparison honestly, including the cases where staying where you are is the cheaper answer.

Because voice is part of the network, we look at both together. A phone system on an under provisioned network is a support ticket waiting to happen.

  • UCaaS design and implementation
  • Number porting without downtime
  • Desk, mobile and softphone deployment
  • Conferencing and messaging integration
  • Cost comparison against your current system
  • Ongoing support from the same helpdesk
Where we are not a fit

Two things we do not do.

Said plainly, so nobody wastes a meeting.

Break and fix repair for non clients

We are not a walk in computer repair shop. If you need a single machine looked at and no ongoing relationship, we are the wrong call and there are good local shops who will help you faster than we can.

One off breach clean up

We do not take emergency breach work for organisations that want the symptom removed and then intend to carry on exactly as before. It does not hold, and taking that job would be selling you a delay rather than a fix.

Executive questions

Questions about working with us.

Do I have to sign a long term agreement to work with you?

No. Project based consulting and best practices consulting are both bought as defined pieces of work with a start and a finish. Ongoing management is a relationship, and we would rather you enter it after seeing how we work than as a condition of talking to us.

Do you work with companies outside central Indiana?

Our focus is central Indiana, and that is where the helpdesk, the engineers and both offices are. We do support national and international clients where they fit a very specific profile, usually because they are already a client who has grown or has locations elsewhere. If you are outside Indiana, tell us the situation and we will give you an honest answer about whether we are the right firm.

How big does a company need to be?

Our work fits best in organisations of roughly fifteen to two hundred and fifty people with revenues between five and twenty million. Below that the economics rarely make sense for either side, and we will say so rather than sell you something that does not fit.

Can you work alongside our existing IT person or team?

Yes, and it is a common arrangement. An internal person who knows the business well, supported by a team that carries the security, the monitoring and the after hours coverage, is a strong combination. We are explicit about who owns what so that nothing falls between the two.

Start with a 30 minute conversation.

No pitch and no obligation. We listen to how you see your technology, then give you our initial read.
